What Can You Split Test In Leadpages?

Leadpages allows you to split almost any element of your landing pages, sales pages, content pages and checkout pages.

Here’s a few things you can begin split testing on your pages:

• Headlines
• Landing page, sales page or checkout page designs
• Background images or colors
• Opt-in form fields
• Call-to-action buttons – color, copy, positioning
• Product images
• Test product pricing
• Checkout form fields
• Testimonials
• Bullet points

And that’s just to name a few!

What Should You Split Test First?

When it comes to sales funnels, if you want to make sure that your opt-ins are as high as they can be and that the conversions for your one-time offer and your one click upsells are at their peak, then there are 3 things you should definitely consider split testing.

1. Landing Page
2. Sales Page
3. Checkout page

Each section will break down how to test each in more detail, so you will have a plan for how to test your pages to optimal conversions.

1 – Your Landing Page (Opt-In)

Your landing page is the gateway to your funnel, the more people who you can get to opt-in to your list via your landing pages, the more people you will have seeing your offers… That’s why it’s critical to try to get as high a conversion rate as you can…

With your landing page, you want to see a 40% to 50% conversion… Therefore you need to continue split testing different elements of your landing page until you cross the 40% opt-in rate.

In fact…

Here are the first two split tests you should run on your landing page.

1. Your Headline

The very first thing I would split test is your headline.

A good headline is going to sell your audience into subscribing to your email list.. More than your bullets or product image ever will.

Split testing your headline is going to help you discover what words and marketing angles pushes your audience’s hot buttons the most.

Here’s the thing…

I’ve changed one word in my landing page before and it increased my conversion rate from 25% to 48%… That was nearly 100% increase in leads with the exact same traffic!

The second most important element to test on your landing page is…

2. Your Offer

Finding the right offer that gets your audience excited can take some time.

You most likely won’t get it right the first time and that’s fine.

But by continually testing different offers & lead magnets over time… You’ll end up finding your golden offer that skyrockets your conversions.

Those are the two most important split tests you can make and they will have the biggest impact on your returns.

Other minor tests you can make are…

1. Adding or removing bullet points
2. Adding or removing social proof
3. Reducing the number of form fields on your opt-in form

Note! Don’t split test more than one variable at a time. If you create more than one variable in a test, you won’t know which of those variables is making all the difference in your results.

When you’ve got your landing page converting at 40%+ it’s time to split test your sales page…

2 – Your Sales Page

With your one-time-offer and sales pages, you want about 20% of your audience clicking the “buy now” button …

Some ways you can split test your sales page would be by testing:

1. Video sales letters vs text based sales letters
2. Adding testimonials
3. Headlines and bullet points
4. Stories in your sales letter
5. Marketing angles
6. Buy Buttons

Again, only split test one of these items at a time.

After you achieve the 20% click thru percentages on your sales page, it’s time to move on to your checkout page.

3 – Your Checkout Page

Just like your sales page, your checkout can be split tested in various ways to ensure maximum conversion, and needs to be converting at a 1%-2% conversion rate…

Here are a few:

• Reducing the amount of fields in the checkout form
• Adding testimonials to the side of checkout page
• Adding security images
• Adding a guarantee logo
• Adding a video from you letting them know they’re making a wise choice
• Adding your customer support information

Even something as small as adding or removing your company logo can make a big difference when it comes to sales…

It’s your job to build a checkout page that makes your audience feel safe and confident enough to complete the purchase. Split testing makes this job so much easier for you.

So now you know what to split test, let me show you how…

How To Setup a Split Test On a Landing Page

NOTE! In order to create a split test, you need to have created and published the two pages you wish to test against each other. Only when you’ve done that is it time to create the test.

Here’s how to split test a landing page on Leadpages…

First, click the “CREATE NEW SPLIT TEST” button at the upper-right corner of the menu in your Leadpages Dashboard. Like here:

Next, you’ll want to name your test by hovering over its placeholder title, as shown below:

Choose a Control and Variation

Next, you want to browse your list of pages and click Use This Page to set your split test’s control page which your variation page will be compared against.

Note! Each split can only have one control page, but you can change your control page at any time by clicking Choose Control from the left-hand sidebar and choose another page. Like this:

When you’ve selected your control page, you’re then asked what page you’d like to set as your variation….

Click Add a Variation, then choose whether you’d like to copy your control page (this is better for testing small changes like headlines or button colours, or test against a completely different page entirely. Shown here:

If you choose to copy your control page, you’ll need to edit and publish the new variation in order to use it in your split test. If you click the pencil icon next to the variation title, you can edit your new page in a new tab.

However…

If you choose to test a different page entirely, then after you’ve clicked on Choose Different Page, you’ll be asked to choose the page you’d like to use as the variant in the test.

Distribute Traffic

Once you have selected your pages and clicked the Next button, you need to decide how you want traffic to be distributed to your pages.

Note! Once you have created your split test, you will not be able to adjust the traffic distribution.

All this basically means is when people start visiting your split test URL, Leadpages will automatically direct them to either the control or variant page based on the traffic percentages you choose.

I normally set up my split tests at 50/50 traffic because I like to send my variant enough traffic so I can quickly begin to see if it’s improving my conversion rate or making it worse.

Start Your Split Test

Finally, click Next to begin reviewing your split test, making sure you’ve chosen the right pages and everything looks good to go, and then click Start Test to activate the split test.

And that’s it you have a split test up and running!

From here, setting up a split test for a checkout page, sales page or any page for that matter follows this exact same simple process. So once you’ve nailed the simple process above, you’ll be able to set up split tests for anything you’d like.

How Long Should You Run Your Split Test?

When it comes to split test data, more is always better than not enough, and you need to make sure with any split test you run that you’re able to reach statistical significance.

If you can drive a minimum of 1,000 to your split test over a 2 week period, you’re going to create the statistical significance you need to see what changes are making a difference in your sales funnel.

Until that point, it’s going to be hard for you to gather conclusive data.

For opt-in pages, you really want to be focusing on running your split test until you hit 40% conversion rate…

If you’re currently at a 40% conversion rate, then continue to test to see if you can beat it while opening up tests on the back side of your optin page. E.X. one time offer page, upsell pages, etc.

Tough but worth it!

Conclusion

Successful split testing can turn your campaign from losing money to break even… From break even to profitable, and continually increase your profit margins.

Get split testing right and you will be able to make consistent improvements on your conversion rates all across your funnel, thus earning more money with the same amount of traffic!

A/B Split testing is going to help you fine-tune your sales funnels and marketing campaigns by identifying exactly what is driving your audience to take action on your landing pages.

By identifying which parts of your landing pages influence conversion rates, you can laser focus on what’s driving opt-ins and sales by doing more of what’s working and eliminating that that is having a negative effect on your conversion.

In this post your going to learn how to quickly add your Facebook pixel to Leadpages (it should only take a few minutes), so you can get back to building your business, generating leads and getting sales…

Sounds good?… Let’s dive in…

Step 1. Grabbing your Facebook Code

Note! – If you haven’t create your haven’t created your Facebook Pixel, then you can create one pretty easily and quickly. All you have to do whilst inside of your events manager, is click the ‘Create a Pixel’ button.

If you get stuck, you can follow the instructions on this post to help you create your pixel.

The first thing you’re going to need to do is head on over to your Facebook Ads Manager. You can get there by going here: https://www.facebook.com/adsmanager

Next, you’re going to want to head on over to your events manager. Like shown below:

After following these two steps, you’ll be taken to the Facebook Data Sources page.

First find the pixel you are looking for, and click on it…

If you have never used the pixel before, then you’ll be presented with this page:

From here, click on “Continue Pixel Setup”.

You’ll now be given two choices…

1. Manually add your pixel code to your website…
2. Use a Partner Integration…

Unfortunately, Leadpages is NOT one of Facebook’s partner integrations, therefore you need to click on “Install Code Manually”. As shown below:

Next, you’ll be presented with your Facebook Pixel code…

All you have to do is simply click the COPY CODE button to copy your Facebook Pixel Code to your clipboard. As shown below:

Note! – If you have someone on your team that is setting up your Facebook Pixel Code and designing your funnels & landing pages, you can email the code straight to them quickly and easily by click EMAIL INSTRUCTIONS. They’ll ask you for a recipient and then they’ll send your code straight to them.

Installing Your Pixel Code Into Leadpages

Okay…

Yes, the thought of trying to install code is normally a scary one, but in this instance it’s so simple. You don’t even need to get a coder to help you, and you’ll be done in less than 2 minutes…

So… In order to install your pixel code into Leadpages, you need to first head over to Leadpages and log into your account.

Once you’ve logged in, head over to the landing page or sales page that you’re looking to edit and open it up.

Once your landing or sales page has loaded, go to the side menu on the left side of the page and click on SETTINGS…

At this moment, you’ll be presented with 3 options:

1. SEO
2. Social
3. Analytics

To instal the Facebook Pixel code, you need to click on ANALYTICS.

Now…

This is the point where a lot of people make mistakes when pasting their Facebook Pixel Code…

In analytics, you’re given a few options that might be confusing…

1. Head Section Tracking Code
2. Immediately After The Opening <body> tag
3. Immediately Before The Closing </body> tag

HEAD SECTION TRACKING CODE is the one you need in order for your pixel to fire correctly.

So grab the Pixel code that you copied from Facebook earlier and paste it into the HEAD SECTION TRACKING CODE area, and click SAVE. As shown below:

Once you’ve done this and click SAVE… Make sure to click publish on every page. Only when you do this will your edits become live online.

These steps will need to be repeated for every page that you want to be able to track. So if you have a multi-step funnel in place, it is important that your pixel code is on all of the pages in the funnel including any thank you pages you have created.

This means you can track every step of your sales funnel like— page views, leads, view content, add to cart, submit details, enter checkout details, and purchase, which is incredibly valuable information that can help you improve your funnels and lower your advertising costs…

And that’s it! As you can see, it’s pretty simple and straightforward, and you definitely don’t need to get a coder to help you do it, which is nice and saves you money!

If you’re unsure if you have done everything correctly, you can install the free Google Chrome extension called Pixel Helper. When you’ve installed the Facebook Pixel Helper, you can check every one of your pages to see if they show the pixel in the chrome extension. This will help you keep track of whether or not it’s working so you don’t go too far down the line and then realise you’ve made a mistake.

The Facebook Pixel is an incredibly useful and powerful tracking tool that can give you key performance information regarding your Facebook ads and how well they’re converting and of course how well your landing pages and sales pages are converting too.

It’s actually a lot simpler than you might think, and you definitely don’t have to hire any kind of expensive coder.

In fact, this article has ALL the information you need to get AWeber and LeadPages communicating with zero tech knowledge (seriously), including screenshots to make things super easy for you to understand.

Ready? Let’s dive in.

How to Integrate LeadPages and Aweber

First you need to make sure your AWeber is connected to your LeadPages account. You can do this using the following simple steps:

Step 1: Connect Your AWeber Account to LeadPages

Login to your LeadPages account.

In this article, I’m assuming you already have designed your opt-in page and added a signup form.

So with that in mind, here’s what to do next.

Hover over your button widget and click EDIT POP-UP. As shown below:

Your popup form will appear.

Hover over the button on the form and click EDIT INTEGRATIONS. As shown below:

A menu will appear on the left hand. Select ADD INTEGRATION. As shown below:

Click MORE SERVICES. Like below:

A new page will appear.

Click on AWEBER. Like here:

On the top right corner of the page, you’ll see a button that says CONNECT NEW ACCOUNT. As shown below:

Click on it.

Now you’ll find something like this on your page:

Give your account a name. For example ‘My LeadPages account’.

You can give whatever name you like.

Click on the blue CONNECT button.

A page will appear asking you to login to your AWeber account. Like this:

Fill in your AWeber account information and click on the blue button that says ALLOW ACCESS.

If you don’t have an AWeber account yet, now is the time to go get one. You can’t proceed without one.

Once you’ve added your information you should get a screen that looks like this:

If the status is showing as ‘Connected’ then your Aweber account is now successfully connected with Leadpages.

Now click the x sign on the top right to close the window.

You’ll be taken back to the screen you started with.

Congratulations. Now you only need a couple of more steps.

Before I move on, you should know something. You can connect your AWeber to your LeadPages account only once so make sure the account you’re using is your final confirmed account.

Step 2: Connect Your Email List to Your LeadPages Form

On the menu on the left-hand side under EMAIL MARKETING SERVICES, you should see that your AWeber has been connected to your LeadPages account. As shown below:

Now click on it.

A menu will appear that reads SELECT A DESTINATION. When you click on it, a dropdown menu should appear.

From this menu, select the list you want to use with your form.

Let me stop here for a minute and explain what I mean by forms and lists in case you’re confused.

Using AWeber you can create separate lists as well as forms which you can integrate to LeadPages.

How to Create an Email List on AWeber

To access your lists, login to your AWeber account.

On the top menu, you’ll see an option of LISTS. When you click on it, something like this will appear:

By clicking on the green button that says CREATE A LIST, you can create a new list.

How to Create a New Optin Form on AWeber

If you want to make changes to your LeadPages optin form fields, you’ll need to do it using your AWeber.

So to create a new form or edit an existing form, go back to your homepage.

Select your subscribers list for which you want to create a form from the dropdown menu on the top of your screen.

Below the blue menu, you’ll see the option of SIGN UP FORMS. Like this:

Click on it.

You should be able to see the form you created previously.

Click on the tiny EDIT button you see.

A page will appear that looks like this:

From here, you can change any form fields you want or create new ones. Once you click the green SAVE YOUR FORM button all changes will be applied to the optin form you have in LeadPages.

If you have multiple forms you want to make changes to, you’ll need to follow the exact same steps.

Just make sure to click the SAVE button as you make changes.

Also if you want more people opting in and more subscribers, have less number of fields. People on the internet are too lazy to fill in too many fields.

Now go back to your LeadPages tab.

Step 3: Create Tags

LeadPages will ask you to select or create tags. Like shown below:

Don’t get confused here. Create any tag you want to apply to your list.

Let’s call it ‘New subscribers’ for now.

After you’ve added tags, click the SAVE button.

Step 4: Create Form Fields

Now you’ll be prompted to add fields to your form. Like shown here:

Remember you created form fields in your Aweber a little while ago?

At this step, you simply need to select those form fields from the dropdown menu and click DONE once you’ve added them.

Step 5: Choose Where to Send Subscribers

LeadPages will ask you where you want to send visitors who opted in. As shown below:

If you want to send subscribers to a thank you page, you’ll have to set it within LeadPages, not AWeber because that’s how their integration works.

Use whichever option you want to go with and click SAVE AND CLOSE.

Now click PUBLISH.

You’re all set. Your LeadPages AWeber integration is successfully done.

What Next?

Before you log out of both LeadPages and AWeber, make sure to test that your optin form is actually working.

The last thing you want is subscribers filling in your form but seeing a blank page with an ugly code instead of a thank you page.

Another thing you need to know is that AWeber integration with LeadPages automatically works on the double optin format. This means that when visitors submit the form to you, they’ll receive an email that will ask them to confirm subscription by clicking on the button.

If you wish to disable double opt in you’ll need to contact AWeber support team.

For now, submit your personal information in your optin form.

When you’ve added your details, go back to your AWeber.

Click on SUBSCRIBERS and you should see your name on that page.

In the context of online marketing, a sales funnel is a digital mechanism for lead generation and sales. Sales funnels don’t take lunch breaks. Sales funnels don’t forget to check the counter. They don’t forget to pick up the phone. They don’t shut down on the weekends. They are always available, always ready to provide a solution, and always ready when the customer is ready to make a sale. And the best thing about a sales funnel is that it literally works for you while you sleep, as long as you have all of the correct systems in place.

Step 2. WordPress

So you sorted out the hosting, and you are set-up in WordPress. Once you have taken some time to familiarise yourself, you will set up your first sales page, which will become the foundation of your sales funnel. (Don’t forget to start blogging, either! You should start blogging twice per week to build your website’s authority on your target niche! Learn how to use content marketing to drive organic traffic to your funnel to maximize traffic and opt-ins! To get started, you are going to install a new theme. A theme is a set of templates which affect the appearance and format of your website. The theme you are going to go with is OceanWP.

• On the left-hand side of the WordPress dashboard, hover over the paintbrush to reveal the menu. Select the themes option.

• On the Themes page, you will find the currently active theme. On the top left-hand side of the page, click add new.

• In the top-right search box insert “OceanWP”.
• Click install
• The button will change, click activate.

Step 3. Elementor

Now you are going to install Elementor. Elementor is a visual page builder with drag and drop elements and features. It can also be used as a funnel builder plugin. There is a freemium version of Elementor, which is a nice way to feel your way around initially. Unfortunately, it is quite limited… and you will soon need to upgrade to Pro to create anything useful. The Pro Version is well priced and well worth it. • In the WordPress dashboard, on the left-hand panel, hover over the plug icon and select plugins.

• On the top left, select add new.

• In the search box type in Elementor.
• When it comes up, select install, and then activate.

Once the Plugin is installed and activated, you can upgrade to the pro version here: Elementor Page Builder – Video tutorials and documentation will lead you through the simple setup. Now you are ready to start editing your first page.

• On the left-hand panel, select the pages icon.

• Select add new.

• Enter your title.

Add a page title that summarises what your page is about. Your page title is important for indexing your page in the search engines. Make sure that it is a good overview of what your page content is about.

• Click publish.
• Select Edit with Elementor.

Once you have carried out the above instructions, you will be in the page builder interface. On the right is the workspace, and on the left is the control panel. The workspace is made of editable sections and columns. To build a website, you populate the sections with buttons, text, forms, images, and a host of other items. In this tutorial, you are going to build a simple, static sales page. The content will address the customer, lead them through a sales pitch, introduce the product, and motivate engagement.

• On the bottom left of the screen, select settings.
• Above the settings menu is a page layout dropdown menu where you will select Elementor canvas.

• In the working area, click the plus sign.

• Select the first option for the section structure.

• In the control panel, under layout, select the dropdown menu for section height. Choose fit to screen.

• To edit the section, select style, choose the paintbrush and then select the color you prefer.

• At the top right of the control panel, select the elements menu.

The icons in the menu are element widgets which offer different functionalities for your page. Drag and drop them onto the working area as required. Spend some time on Youtube to help you, play around with the elements to get a feel for how they work.

• In the elements menu, click on the heading element and drag it out onto the workspace. Do the same with the text editor element.

These page elements hold text content. To insert text, click on one of the columns and the editing block will open up inside the control panel. You can copy-paste your text content into the editing block now if you already have it. Otherwise, I will be discussing how to go about structuring your sales content in a moment, in case you need some guidance. The first website I ever made was for web design services. I used as many of the elements as I could to showcase what I could include on the customers’ websites. This is a perfect way to get a feel for the program, and I would recommend giving it a try.

• The next step in the page build is to select the little blue tab at the top of the main section. Use the control panel to play with the formatting and positioning.
• There is a slider to edit the width of the content box for the section. Somewhere between 800 and 900 is quite comfortable for reading.
• With the dropdown menu for column position, get the text to the top of the page.

• To create spaces between the sections, go to the elements menu, select spacer, and drop it where you want it.

In this image, I use the spacer to separate the heading and text from the top of the page. Once the spacer is placed, a slider will appear in the control panel. Adjust accordingly.

• In the style section, you can adjust text alignment, sizes, fonts, and colors, as well as many other parameters.

Once you get to this point, you should have a fair idea of what is going on in the page builder. With each aspect you come to understand, you unlock a new level of design capability. Elementor makes the learning process a million times easier.

Step 5. Sales Content and the Call to Action

Your web page is only the first part of your sales funnel. A funnel starts with the landing page, which will showcase a simple call-to-action, usually featuring a headline with a couple of bullet points, designed to get the reader to share their email address for the ‘free thing’ being offered as the lead magnet. But your landing page can also contain other sales copy… video sales letters, headlines, customer reviews, etc. Once you get into the funnel, dynamic copywriting is really important! In fact, a good headline and sales page could make or break the conversion rate of your funnel… all the way from the opt-in page, to the one-time-offer, to the one-click-upsell, to the checkout page! The content that you write for your web page must tell a complete story, from open to close. This script will be adapted and expanded through the rest of the sales funnel as you extend and optimize the funnel stages. The following pointers will help you develop the script to be used through your sales funnel. Remember, don’t try and sell a product to the prospect right away. Your sales funnel should move the prospect through a series of small conversions, leading up to the final goal of the sale. The first sale will be your One-Time-Offer, a discounted product that will offer even more value, and build upon what the customer already got with their lead magnet.

Selling Your Lead Magnet And Getting That Email Address

Define your product or service. Write out the features and benefits. Define the target audience. The perfect customer is known as the target persona, or customer avatar. Write a brief backstory about this person. Describe their demographics and the problems that your product can help them solve. Your entire sales funnel is made to explain to this person how you are going to solve their problem. If you have been running your widget company for a while now, you will likely know your audience already. If you are still new to your market, you should do quite a bit of research on your customer. This is the person that you are writing to, and so you need to understand them very well. Social media groups and forums can be a good gauge of what the niche-related sore points are. Quora and Reddit are good resources too. Once you understand your product and the value it can bring to your reader, then you can begin to write the pitch.

Crafting A Dynamic Sales Pitch

You start with an introduction, to let the reader know that the article will help them solve their problem. Address the audience in industry-relevant language. The first part of the sales pitch is to let the target know that you understand the problem faced, and that you are qualified to solve it. Once the problem has been set up, you can then lead into the product as the solution to the problem. You will explain how the product has easily solved problems like this many times before. If your opt-in offer requires them to buy something, consider objections that the reader might have. Pricing, competition, feature queries and hurdles in the buying process… these should all be addressed. Answer all questions before they arise. Pacify all possible issues that the target might face in the buying process. Include social proof in the form of company affiliations, references, recommendations and statistics. Anything that makes reference to your good history, good relationships, or a worthy product, is good for sales. Include any big-name clients or positive feedback on past work. Remember to put the reader first. Don’t write too much about your story or your product features. We all want things like time, money, health, beauty and love. Present your core benefits around these ideals, as they will be more effective than mentioning the number of buttons or options. Once you have introduced, set up, and presented your offer as the solution, it is time to close. On a sales page, a close is called a call to action.

The Call To Action

There are different types of calls to action, depending on the goals of the sales page. A few types:

• Direct call
• Text
• Fill in details on a form
• Make a purchase
• View contact details
• Follow a link to another page

If all goes according to plan, the customer will arrive at this point with all objections cleared up. They should be ready to opt-in to your offer and follow your instructions. For the hesitant ones, include motivation to encourage the required actions through dynamic, engaging sales copy. If you can sell this well, it will make the customer feel like they are getting such a good deal that they really can’t pass it up!

Designing An Opt-In Page In Elementor

As for our opt-in page in Elementor, the call to action is going to be a form. The form element is an editable series of fields. The reader inserts their relevant details depending on the form type. In our case, you are going to include a simple form to gather names, email addresses, and query messages. The freemium version of Elementor does not have access to the form element. An alternative, is to include your contact details at the bottom, instead of the form. Otherwise, be smart and install Elementor Pro. • To set up the form element, go to the element menu and scroll down to the form option. Drag and drop it underneath the text block on the page.

On the control panel, you can now edit the form fields. Select the field to be edited, and change the label and placeholder as required.

• If you scroll down in the control panel, beneath the form field editor, you will see the email tab. Open it and type in the email address where you would like the form entries to be sent to. You can also edit the subject line to be included with the emails if required.

• To edit the button on the form, select style, scroll down to the button tab, then edit the color as required. If you would like the button to change color during hover, turn the selector in the control panel from normal to hover. Edit as required.
